HOME-SCHOOL CONNECTION

*Please let me know the best way to reach you and what times work well for you.  I will try my absolute hardest to accommodate your needs...I want our communication to be as open and successful as possible :)

*Don't hesitate to contact me for any reason at all (questions, comments, concerns, etc.).  I want to hear from you!  The best way to ensure successful education for a student is a positive parent-teacher relationship and open lines of communication.  I am committed to contributing everything I can toward that relationship.

*My email address is sarah.camp@barrow.k12.ga.us --or you can begin a new message to me by clicking the button at the bottom right of each page.

Google Voice Number

I have secured a Google Voice number to the ways you or your child can reach me.
Here are some guidelines for using the number:

  • Please check the website, your email, and your child's agenda to see if I may have already answered your question before using GV.

  • Also ask your child in case they know the answer.

  • Please do not call/text between 10 PM and 6 AM.  Teachers need sleep too :)

  • I do not have your contact information stored in my phone, so please bare with me if I ask who a message is from or if the GV requests you to give your name.

  • Please leave a message if you would like for me to call you back.  The GV account does not save phone numbers, so if I have a missed call I do not know who it is from (whether it is a parent from my class or another caller).  I may not always be able to answer or respond right away, but know that I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can.

Here are some reasons you may want to use the GV number:

  • Quick questions about homework (if your child is truly confused, it would probably be better if I assist them in-person at school)

  • Concern about something that happened at school

  • General questions

  • Anything you would rather not email about, or can't wait for an email response (teachers request a 24-hours grace period to respond to emails).

Some things I will use the Google Voice number for:

  • Reminders about deadlines

  • Reminders about upcoming events

  • Any reason that I would need to contact you via phone (behavior concern, information you need to know, etc.)

Please add this number to your contacts so you will know it is me when I call or text.  This is also the number you should use to call or text me.

Agenda Books/Notes

Another way I might use to communicate with you is through writing.  If I send a note home, I will typically stamp it with a "Please Sign & Return" so that I know you received it.

If you would like to write me a note either on paper or in the agenda, please make sure your child knows they need to bring it to me attention as soon as possible.  I will have a basket on my desk for notes to be placed.  They can turn it in there or bring it directly to me.

Students need to fill out their agenda books each day.  I write daily homework/upcoming tests/materials/reminders on the white board.  I want to encourage as much student responsibility and organization as possible, and the agenda book is a great tool for both students and parents to keep up with what is going on at school.

If students happen to miss writing anything down, these items will also be posted on my website under "Calendar" and "Homework."

Folders

Approximately every 2 weeks, students will bring home a folder with flyer handouts and their graded work.  Please look over each item carefully.  If your child earns unsatisfactory grades, I will ask that you review their work with them and sign/return them.
